Frequently Asked Questions
How is a Sons of the Desert convention different from a tent meeting?
Picture a tent meeting and multiply the number of people by 10, give or take. In addition, there are more films, food, activities, laughter & fun!
Why is the San Diego 2026 convention different from other conventions?
Every single convention from around the world and throughout the years, has had wonderful things about them and they each have had precious moments. At sonsfestsd2026, celebrating the legacy of Laurel & Hardy will be the reason we will get together, not the excuse. In addition, San Diego is a destination city with a rich history. There has been a lot of interest to hold a convention here. The weather in June is usually perfect. If folks desire to see the mountains, the beaches, the farms, the desert & the city, we have it all here!
How can I help with the convention, either as a volunteer, sponsorship or donations?
We welcome everyone to help out with either donations or being a volunteer in person. If you are the Grand Sheik of a tent and would like to sponsor an event or help the convention as a group in some way, we very much welcome that as well. To find out where you can be a good fit for sonsfestsd2026, please contact our Convention Chairman, Mr. Dave Greim at: jolie116mm@aol.com
Do you have Mustachio?
We will have everything except chocolate!
If I can only attend a portion of the convention, which events should I choose?
We are offering Day Passes & Event Passes. Some events need to be pre-registered, like the Monday evening dinner cruise on the San Diego Bay. We would like to encourage everyone to come aboard!
The Tuesday evening theatre program will be open to the public. We encourage everyone to pre-register, however walk-up patrons are also welcome for those who want to pay cash.
