Horn Testers Journal #302, February 2026 (!)

Saps at Sea, the San Diego Laurel and Hardy group, presents:

February Valentine's Fun!

Saturday February 7 from 5:00 to 8:30 pm (Doors open 4:30) at:

First Lutheran Church, 867 S Lincoln Ave, El Cajon, CA 92020

Donation is $10 per person and includes refreshments. FREE for Kids 12 and under.

Our special meeting guest:  Former Saps at Sea Grand Sheik Rick Greene will be selling copies of his latest book: Promotional Pandemonium! - Selling Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy to Depression-Era America: Book Two.  The book features over 850 pictures of movie posters, pressbooks, etc.  And it's 492 pages!

We'll start with a cartoon, "Cinderella Meets Fella" (1938).  Next is "Me and My Pal" (1933).  On the day of Ollie's wedding, Stan brings a jigsaw puzzle that everyone wants to put together!

Stan considered "Putting Pants on Philip" (1927) to be the first film where Laurel and Hardy were officially a team.  Our own very talented Russ Peck provides the music for this tale of Ollie trying to get his Scottish kilt-wearing nephew Stan to wear pants.

In "Love Business" (1931), Jackie Cooper and Chubby Chaney both have a crush on their teacher, Miss Crabtree.

After intermission, we'll show "Mighty Like a Moose" (1926).  Charley Chase and wife Vivian Oakland get plastic surgery without telling each other...

"Swiss Miss" (1938) wraps up the night.  The boys work for a tyrannic chef at a hotel in Switzerland, where a composer is working on his latest creation.  Songs include Ollie's rendition of "Let Me Call You Sweetheart".  Plus "I Can't Get Over the Alps".  No, really!
