Horn Testers Journal #298, June 2025 Saps at Sea, the San Diego Laurel and Hardy group, presents: By Request! Some of our Favorites! Saturday June 7 from 5:00 to 8:30 pm (Doors open 4:30) at First Lutheran Church of El Cajon, 867 S Lincoln Ave, El Cajon, CA 92020 Donation is $10 per person and includes refreshments. Kids 12 and under are free! Yes, you can bring in takeout or other food. As Oliver Hardy would say, "Bring your eats with you!"

First, a couple Sappy announcements: James Fauset, our Saps Insurance Czar, is collecting donations for our liability insurance, estimated to be around $500 this year, due August 1. He can take cash or checks at the June 7 meeting. Let James know if you want to be listed as a Donor or Anonymous or you can mail a check payable to James Fauset (with Saps Insurance in the memo line) to: James Fauset, ATTN: SAPS, P.O. Box 710784, Santee, CA 92072.

We will have a very sappy cartoon, then our Guest Comedian is Thelma Todd, popular with Laurel and Hardy fans everywhere. We'll celebrate her birthday (July 29, 1906) with "Air Fright", also starring Patsy Kelly. The friends are flight attendants on a flight to test a new parachute system... I asked Russ Peck, our brilliant pianist and AV expert, what movie he would like to play a score for. He chose "You're Darn Tootin'" (1928). After being fired from the band, Stan and Ollie become street musicians. What could possibly go wrong? Next is "The Revenge of the Sons of the Desert" (1987). This Emmy-winning documentary covers the 1986 Sons of the Desert convention in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Watch for our wonderful former Grand Sheik Rick Greene as The Quizmaster! After intermission, we'll show "Block-Heads" (1938). War buddies Stan and Ollie reunite after 20 years. This film features one fun gag after another. Join us for another evening of good times!
